A Little Rest by Kirk Moore

November 23, 2020 By Kirk Moore

I’m a little worn out.  You may be a little or a lot worn out, too.  I don’t think my ‘worn out’ is more imortant than yours.  It’s just the only ‘worn out’ that I can expereince.

And I’m taking a little rest.

Since March 15, I’ve become the executive producer of a weekly video program called, “The Sunday Morning Church Service.”  {Before that sounds impressive, it really means that I have a basic skillset that has been helpful in shifting the weekly worship service with the congregation I pastor into a produced weekly video worship service.} As I watch the videos, they’re really pretty good — and I know that I had a hand in putting them together.

I’m not alone in all of it.  Our music director has learned amazing new recording skills for putting together music for the services.  Our office manager has learned how to produce videos for the hymns.  And several people have added voices, songs, and announcments that appear in our weekly services.

But I have realized that I really need a rest from it all.  So I’m taking this week off.

That said, the easiest way to take time off while keeping the basics going for Sunday was to do all the work that usually takes a week and do it all in one day — and ask all the people who put things together for the services to get it done early this week.

Maybe that’s just the way vacations work, anyway.

I know that today I need some rest.  And here I go — off til next Tuesday.
