Mental Health 101
Description
In the United States, one in five adults will experience a mental illness in a given year. In this workshop, you will learn to recognize the symptoms of common mental health challenges, what we know about their causes, and what you or a loved one can do to get better.
Workshop Leadership
Rev. Amy Petré-Hill is the Minister of Mental Health and Inclusion at Mountain View United Church in Aurora, Colorado, and the Spiritual Care Fellow at the Univ. of Colorado Medical School’s Neurodevelopmental Differences program. She previously worked as a disability rights attorney and is now the spiritual advisor to the Voices for Veterans Mental Health Council of Eastern Colorado and nationally certified Mental Health First Aid instructor. She serves as one of two vice-chairs for the UCC MHN.
Jon “Gilbert” Martinez, M.Div., joined the UCC MHN Board in 2019 after attending a WISE Conference. He is a member-in-discernment with the Chicago Metropolitan Association‐Illinois Conference of the UCC. Gilbert serves as the vice-moderator for the CMA and as the Digital Outreach Minister at San Lucas UCC-Chicago. He also serves as the Communications Consultant for the Colectivo de UCC Latinx Ministries. Gilbert serves the UCC Mental Health Network as one of two vice-chairs and helps lead the network’s digital outreach.
